Employee Spotlight

Stanley Bradford

Superintendent

“I’ve grown up with TEEL, starting as a laborer at 16 and working my way to superintendent leading our airport team. The support and opportunities here have shaped my career, and I take pride in contributing to projects that keep our community moving forward. What I appreciate most about TEEL is the emphasis on teamwork and mentorship. Along the way, I’ve had incredible colleagues who’ve helped me grow, and I’ve always felt that my efforts are valued. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited for the future as we continue to take on new challenges together.”

Internships

TEEL Construction is dedicated to shaping the future of commercial construction by offering paid summer internships to college students pursuing degrees in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering, including Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical disciplines. Our program provides students with valuable hands-on experience in pre-construction, estimating, project management, and field operations, preparing them for successful careers in the industry.

I thoroughly enjoyed my summer internship with [TEEL]. The knowledge I cultivated enhanced my prior studies at VT, I already feel more prepared for my senior year and graduation…Working with TEEL confirmed my interest in pursuing a career in commercial construction.

Eric Heinemann, Virginia Tech

Thank you for a great summer. I learned a lot and it was great to meet everybody at [TEEL]. The atmosphere and company culture is something special and it was a great introduction to the industry.

Community Involvement

Donating Our 1st Change Order Fee to Charity Program
One of TEEL’s initiatives is to ‘support those less fortunate and to increase our charitable giving’. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, TEEL rolled out it’s “Donating Our 1st Change Order Fee to Charity” Program. At its core, the Program has allowed us to turn something generally viewed as negative and make it impactful – in a positive way. Effective October 1, 2020, TEEL has pledged each of its project’s first change order fees to charity. Our client has the option of determining which charity (1 of the 5 organizations outlined below) will receive the first change order fee pledge. At the end of each fiscal year, TEEL prepares and distributes to its staff and all clients served in the preceding fiscal year, its Charitable Giving Report, outlining the impact the cumulative first change order fee donation had on our community.
Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
TEEL recognizes it is our responsibility to help enrich our communities. Employees are encouraged to become involved in their communities, lending their voluntary support to programs that positively impact the quality of life within these communities. The purpose of TEEL’s Volunteer Time Off Program is to create community engagement opportunities for TEEL employees that are meaningful and purposeful. All regular full-time employees may volunteer up to 24 hours (3 days) per calendar year with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in accordance with TEEL’s Giving and Volunteering Guidelines.
- Employees are paid their normal pay rate for the volunteer hours taken.
- VTO is refreshed at the beginning of each calendar year.
- Usage of this time does not affect vacation accrual or sick leave usage.
Second Story
About/Mission: Second Story transforms the lives of children, youth and their families by providing safe havens and opportunities for them to grow and thrive. Second Story’s programs provide support at critical turning points in their lives.
- Second Story for Homeless Youth and Second Story for Young Mothers offer long-term housing as well as life skills
- Support, counseling, and assistance with basic needs.
- Second Story for Teens in Crisis provides a short-term place to stay for youth in crisis, plus individual and family counseling.
- Second Story in the Community provides drop-in centers for families and after-school programs for youth who need more support outside their homes; many of them living in communities where human trafficking, violence, and gang activity are prevalent.
Links to Freedom
About/Mission: The Links to Freedom Golf Foundation (L2F) was formed to implement Wounded Warrior and Disabled Veteran (WW&DV) rehabilitative golf programs at military and civilian golf facilities nationwide to help aid in that struggle.
Breakthrough T1D [formally known as JDRF]
About/Mission: Breakthrough T1D is the world’s biggest nonprofit funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Their focus is on finding a cure; until they do, the advancements they’re making every day ease the burden of those living with the disease.
CANstruction
We proudly support our community through CANstruction, a unique annual event that combines creativity and charity. Partnering with a talented architect and a dedicated millworker, we come together to design and construct a large-scale structure entirely from canned goods. This project highlights our commitment to teamwork and giving back, as all food used in the display is donated to local food banks after the event. CANstruction is a powerful way for our team to leverage our building expertise while helping to address food insecurity in our community.
